Z WINE
Z WINE
Headed by sisters Janelle and Kristen Zerk, Z WINE was founded through a shared love for viticulture and a passion for exquisite wines. The fifth-generation Barossan sisters began producing wines from a select parcel of shiraz from the vineyard where they were raised, with their first wine under the Z WINE Range released back in 2006.
Since its establishment, Z WINE has become a formidable force within the industry, receiving well-deserved recognition for its fine wines and unique cellar door experience. Standing as a testament to this, Z WINE ranks as a 5-red star rated winery in the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion.
Growing organically with its natural customer growth, the siblings now produce approximately twenty boutique wines that fall under five different labels: the Z WINE range, the RUSTICA range, the Single Vineyard Series, the Section 3146 and the Audrey & Hedley. Each label consistently garners praise in the Halliday Wine Companion, with its 2019 Rustica Barossa Valley Grenache ranking highest with 97 points in the 2021 Halliday Wine Companion, and an additional four wines being awarded 95 points and above.
Janelle’s infinite passion to find special parcels of only the best fruit from top vineyards throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys is evident throughout every variety lovingly produced. Z WINE was the worthy winner of ‘The Great Australian Shiraz Challenge’, Winestate Magazine’s ‘Wine of the Year’ as well as having placed in The Real Review’s ‘Top Wineries of Australia’ for three years in a row.
Living up to Z WINE’s high standards, its cellar door experience does not fall short. The cellar door is always a hive of activity, and for good reason; with live music on Friday and Saturday nights, a kid’s corner and decorated in upcycled materials, the venue is warm, welcoming and the perfect place to savour its fine array of wines.
It is no secret that wine and food are an experience in and of themselves. Seeking to embrace the hidden gems of the Barossa Valley has on offer, Z WINE has a delectable assortment of fresh, local produce available for purchase, or as one of its wonderful platters and pairing planks. Linger longer with Z WINE and experience the wonders of the brilliant Barossa Valley.
