Two Hands Wines

Two Hands Wines

Two Hands Wines was born from a bottle of Australian shiraz and a dream. Today, the team pride themselves on their passion for creating the best wine with careful and meticulous viticulture techniques. Time, patience, extensive soil studies and viticulture research have allowed Two Hands Wines to become what it aspires to be; one the greatest vineyards in Barossa. Vine material is sourced from the best vines in the best vineyards, including other growers in the region, rather than sourcing clones from nurseries, producing the highest quality wine the Barossa Valley has to offer.

Taking a more natural, minimalist approach to creating its wines, Two Hands Wines’ estate vineyards are pruned, trained and picked by hand to minimise tractor movements and soil compaction, allowing the grapes to truly develop. From shiraz, and cabernet sauvignon to riesling, chardonnay and even grenache, Two Hands Wines has a delicious drop to suit all tastes.

Each barrel is blind-tasted by Michael Twelftree and his team, ensuring consistency and quality. The company’s main philosophy is that drinking wine should bring pleasure and enjoyment. “The best wines are the ones that are tasted subconsciously; they are enjoyed with great food, good friends and music on a long, lazy afternoon.”

In 2004, Two Hands Wines opened its cellar door, the restored Bakehouse Tasting Room, with an aim to provide a personal and bespoke guest experience. The historic décor and breathtaking surrounds give visitors a unique environment to truly enjoy and learn about the intricacies of wine at their own pace. Guests visiting the cellar door are offered a guided tasting featuring eight wines from the various wine series the company produces. Guests can even get up close and personal by exploring the vineyards in a safari-style experience, inspired by Michael Twelftree’s trip to Africa in 2016.

Tasting Notes

Two Hands Wines Ares Barossa Valley Shiraz

The handful of barrels that make it through are matured for twenty-four months in new and one-year-old French oak, and regularly tasted to ensure only the best make the final blend. A statuesque, powerful and deeply flavourful wine that combines elegance and vivacity, this wine is inspired by Ares the god of war and the myths of ancient Greece.

The pinnacle of the Single Vineyard Series, the Holy Grail is the newest estate vineyard situated amongst the ‘Avenue of Hopes & Dreams’ in the sub-region of Seppeltsfield in the Barossa Valley. The latest and most exciting release, this shiraz is an intensely aromatic wine with an elegance and length on the palate that is truly captivating.

A blend of Two Hands Wines’ finest shiraz barrels from across the Barossa Valley region, this is a sumptuous wine, defined by its aromatic complexity and finesse. This label’s colour reflects the red soils of Barossa’s western ranges, where all the best Two Hands Wines vineyards are located.

Two Hands Wines Gnarly Dudes Barossa Valley Shiraz

Made with fruit sourced from mature vineyards from Barossa’s western ranges, this wine’s palate is filled with rich flavours of spice, black pepper, raspberry, plum and licorice. “These gnarly old dudes stand around [for a] lifetime looking like they are soldiers ready to be led into battle. Year in and year out they throw a crop of beautiful fruit that we tome and put into this bottle. Shiraz grapes, mature vines and the Barossa Valley, there is nothing quite like it,” Michael Twelftree says.
