St Hallett is where the old and the new beautifully combine. Since its inception, St Hallett has focused its attention on nurturing old vines and growing varieties that are known to thrive in the Barossa Valley. The result is a decades-long, deep understanding of the rich tapestry of vineyard sites and climates of the locale.
Focusing its efforts on the mighty shiraz, St Hallett has refined its craft since its foundation in 1944 to a fine art. The winery even offers a delectable sparkling shiraz, quenching the nation’s thirst for red sparkling wines.
St Hallett’s beautiful cellar door is an experience unlike any other. Embraced by vine-entwined pergolas overlooking the immaculately maintained lawns and nestled amongst manicured vines, savour some of the finest wines the Barossa Valley has to offer. Demonstrating its prowess for shiraz, St Hallett’s 2017 Blackwell Barossa Shiraz and its 2016 Old Block Barossa Shiraz both received 97 points in the 2021 Halliday Wine Companion.
The winery consistently ranks as a 5-red star rated winery in the Halliday Wine Companion and 2021 is no exception. A combination as old as time and a match made in heaven, St Hallett offers beautiful cheese platters featuring a selection of the finest South Australian-made cheeses and the Barossa Valley’s most delicious regional produce.
Rivalling wine and cheese is of course, chocolate and wine. St Hallett encourages its guests to indulge in life’s finer things through its Chocolate and Wine Flight. It offers a hand-crafted selection of artisan Australian-made chocolates that are meticulously matched to a selected flight of St Hallett wines for a divine flavour experience.
A truly remarkable winery experience, St Hallett’s collection of accolades and awards speak for itself. Its simple philosophy of minimal intervention and maximum attention has enabled the winery to move from strength to strength since its establishment.
⇐ 2021 St Hallett Rosé
Vivacious and vibrant, this succulent wine is bursting with flavour. Fresh, floral, and fruity notes flood the palate as strawberries and cream, rose petal and white peach compete for centre stage. Offset by a clean-cut acidity, which grants a beautiful length to the wine, the finish is fine and elegant.
⇐ 2019 St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz
Embodying decadence, elegance and luxury, this wine exhibits shiraz’s best qualities. A structured and full-bodied wine supported by complex flavours of blackberry and forest fruits are followed by waves of cocoa and warm spices on the middle palate. Supple tannins are polished and persistent, complementing the warm American Oak undertones.
⇐ 2017 St Hallett Old Block Shiraz
A rich, vibrant and elegant wine, this wine possesses the classic shiraz flavours. Notes of opulent dark chocolate combine harmoniously with juicy satsuma plum, which is elevated by warm cinnamon, zesty nutmeg and spicy black pepper. Mellowed by cedar oak and a brilliantly defined acid backbone, this wine is beautifully balanced with a long finish.
⇐ Black NV Sparkling Shiraz
