Salena Estate Wines is a family-owned grape grower, producer and bottler of premium wines, based in South Australia’s renowned Riverland region. The company was established in 1998 by wine enthusiasts Bob and Sylvia Franchitto, who named the estate after their daughter Salena. Now grown up, Salena has taken on the role as marketing manager for the company.

Salena Estate’s objective is to make world-class wines, which start on the 250-hectares of vineyard across the two sites, Loxton and Lyrup. Here, the grapes are harvested and then transported to the modern on-site winery for the production process, before the incredible range of organic and Mediterranean-inspired varieties are bottled and shipped across the globe.

Currently, Salena Estate’s wines are marketed under a range of brands, including Twisted Sticks, #genS and Ink Series, all of which have their own unique packaging and differing price points to suit a variety of markets. The estate is also a key exporter for bulk wine and is highly successful in the OEM market.

As one of the largest producers of organic wine in Australia, Salena Estate Wines produces approximately 150,000 cases of organic wine annually. Nearly half of the property was converted to organic in 2009, which is a three-year process and well worth the effort; ever since, the estate has been able to grow grapes without synthetic in-puts, artificial chemicals, pesticides, weedicides, fertilisers or GMOs.

The company’s show record of more than 1,500 trophies, gold and silver medals, and other awards garnered from around the globe is testament to its commitment to quality, along with the many positive reviews and articles written about its wines.

Salena Estate Wines has recently expanded to include its own Italian restaurant, Cucina 837, located at the Riverland winery. Head chef Vincenzo is as Italian as they come, offering pasta and pizza that is hand-made in-house and traditional recipes passed down through the generations.
