Rolf Binder

Established in 1955 and steeped in Barossa history, Rolf Binder wines are made with the philosophy of only using primarily estate-grown fruit from its own vineyards across the Barossa. Founder Rolf Heinrich Binder and his wife, Franziska, passed their legacy on to Rolf Binder Jr and his sister Christa Deans, and those same traditions live on today.

Today, Rolf Binder’s ideals continue to drive the essence of the range in the expert hands of the Barossa winemaking team. Combined with traditional viticultural and winemaking techniques, the Rolf Binder philosophy results in a range of highly acclaimed, premium wines, which continue to receive a number of accolades time and again. American wine critic, Robert Parker Junior, describes Rolf Binder as one of his favourite wineries; whose offerings are never excessively oaked, possess extraordinary ripe, concentrated fruit, and great individuality.

The fruit that is used to make the wines is sourced primarily from the Binder Family estate vineyards, which cover 250 acres throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Growing grapes in various sub regions of the Barossa enables the winemaking team to highlight the nuances of the differing terroirs in each of their wines.

Located on the beautiful Seppeltsfield Road scenic drive, Rolf Binder’s inviting cellar door is centrally located and open Monday to Saturday for wine tastings and sales. Visitors to the winery can relax in the recently renovated tasting room or out on the veranda to enjoy views across the winery’s lovely gardens and vineyards, out towards the Barossa Ranges. Expansive lawns ensure that there is plenty of space for your furry friend, so dogs are welcome to come along.

The cellar door’s beautifully hand-crafted, six-metre-long table is the ideal place to enjoy a glass of wine with family and friends, or indulge in one of the wine tasting experiences Rolf Binder has to offer, where there’s something for everyone. Each guided tasting takes visitors through a selected range of wines. Choose between a flight of classic, or single vineyard, signature and flagship wines, which can be enjoyed alongside gourmet pizzas available Monday through Saturday. Or, choose the ultimate tasting experience, including four handmade pizzettas, expertly matched with a range of premium Rolf Binder wines.

Tasting Notes

Cheers To You Sparkling Shiraz Cabernet
⇐ Veritas Winery Rolf Binder’s Bull’s Blood Shiraz Mataro Pressings

Dark ruby/garnet hues, delivers an intense nose with red fruits, dark cherry, black pepper, oak spices, dark chocolate, vanilla and black olive. The palate shows plenty of ripe fruit, black forest cake, undertones of citrus and cherry blossom and integrated vanillin oak. Well-balanced acids and tannins are dense and velvety.

Chaff Mill Cabernet Sauvignon
⇐ Rolf Binder Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache

A classic Rhone blend – a tribute to the patriarch and founder of Veritas Winery, a testament to Rolf Heinrich Binder. Fruit is sourced from various Binder Estate vineyards in different areas of the Barossa. The major component, shiraz, is a vineyard selection, including some fruit from Eden Valley. The grenache is grown on the Western Ridge and the mataro is from dry grown, bush vines planted in the 1880s.

Klauber Block Shiraz
⇐ Rolf Binder Heysen Shiraz

Perfectly ripe fruits such as blueberry and plum, nuances of cocoa, ginger and black pepper. Oak is present but well integrated. Great balance and a beautiful finish on this wine.

Dedication Shiraz
⇐ Rolf Binder Riesling

Delightfully aromatic, displaying delicate jasmine floral and ripe citrus aromas on the nose. The wine has a creamy mouth feel with layers of lemon and apple crumble.
