Patrick of Coonawarra
Patrick of Coonawarra
Patrick of Coonawarra was established by celebrated winemaker Patrick Tocaciu, and the winery’s name reflects his iconic status within South Australia’s winemaking industry. During a decorated career spanning more than three decades, Patrick celebrated international accolades while working as a chief winemaker for several major labels.
After years in the industry the focus for Patrick switched to fulfilling a more personal goal in the establishment of the family-owned and -operated Patrick of Coonawarra in 2004. Patrick’s eldest son, Luke, has now taken over the family business and continues to produce highly regarded wines, following in his father’s footsteps.
Specialising in cabernet sauvignon and riesling varieties but also producing other wines including sparkling whites, sauvignon blanc, shiraz and pinot noir, Patrick of Coonawarra produces only the highest quality fruit from eighty hectares of enviable estate-owned and -managed vineyards to ensure an unwavering commitment to quality.
Patrick of Coonawarra delivers handcrafted, premium wines that highlight what this gorgeous, cool-climate region has to offer. With a cellar door open to visitors seven days a week, you can enjoy the idyllic view while sampling a variety of wines. You can even soak up the sun and enjoy a cheese platter on the lawn.
The winery’s stellar reputation is further cemented by a string of recent awards, including five major trophies for the Patrick Estate Riesling and Aged Riesling in the last five years. The recent release of 2012 Patrick of Coonawarra Aged Riesling has been awarded nineteen medals so far. Among these awards are Best Aromatic Wine at the 2019 Sydney International Wine Competition, Top Gold at the 2018 International Cool Climate Wine Show, as well as a 5-star rating from Winestate and 95 points from James Halliday.
Patrick of Coonawarra’s flagship 2013 Home Block Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 96 points by James Halliday, alongside the new vintage release of Aged Riesling. These accolades are a testament to the team’s dedication to producing handcrafted, quality wines.
