Paracombe Wines
Paracombe Wines
Situated in the picturesque Adelaide Hills on an ancient 1.7-billion-year-old plateau, the breathtaking panoramic views over the vineyards at Paracombe Wines are truly a sight to behold. The cellar door is just a thirty-minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD and offers guests the perfect place to sample exquisite wines and learn the unique story behind each vintage, all while taking in the stunning vistas of the Mount Lofty ranges.
As you approach, the winery’s ‘chief meeter and greeter’ and loyal wine dog Charlie will give you a warm welcome. The cellar door is by appointment only, which allows you to enjoy a personalised tasting experience, and Paracombe Wines runs special cellar door events, where you can pair the winery’s delightful vintages with food freshly prepared on-site using locally sourced ingredients. The cellar door also features stunning artwork from local artist Kath O’Callaghan and a selection of exquisite handmade jewellery crafted by Maasai women in Tanzania.
In 1983, after the Ash Wednesday bushfires, founders Paul and Kathy Drogemuller bought a burnt-out former dairy farm in the Adelaide Hills. Despite having no background or experience in winemaking or grape growing, the pair planted a vineyard and started making wine with a second-hand crusher, milk tanks and a homemade basket press, launching their first wines in 1992. From there, Paracombe Wines bloomed and has been the recipient of a plethora of accolades, including the Best Producer Over 100 Tonnes at the 2021 Adelaide Hills Wine Show. The team at Paracombe Wines care deeply about the environment, sustainably growing and making wine that honours story and place.
To be more efficient with valuable resources, Paracombe Wines has established a water recycling program and has installed an extensive solar panel system on the winery roof. Paracombe Wines is always seeking new and innovative ways to contribute towards a cleaner and greener environment, ensuring a better future for all. All the vines are hand pruned and grass is slashed and dispersed directly under the vines to produce mulch for water retention – promoting worm activity and healthy soils.
Come and try Paracombe Wines’ superb range of fine wine. With a diverse selection, including exciting new varietals, interesting blends and well loved favourites, this winery delivers something for everyone.
Tasting Notes

⇐ A Trio of Pinot Sparkling Rosé
Dusk pink in colour with a scented bouquet of berries, cherry blossom and musk, this rosé is a joyful gathering of three pinot family members – gris, noir and blanc – playfully blended to add to the magic of this wine. Flavours of strawberries and whipped cream combine with soft peach in a delicate bubble that finishes fresh and clean.

⇐ 2021 Pinot Gris
An appealing bouquet of melon, honeyed pear and floral notes combines with fresh flavours of nectarine, nashi pear and crème caramel, and a flinty finish. This wine is made to enjoy and is the perfect accompaniment to food.

⇐ 2021 Red Ruby Rosé
A refreshing delight, this wine is made from Malbec and Tempranillo. Soft ruby colour in the glass enjoy lifted aromas of cherry and raspberry. The palate gives delicate, yet intense, fruit flavours of red summer berries with gentle hints of soft tannin in a long crisp finish. Enjoy right now!

⇐ 2016 The Reuben
This wine showcases the master craft of blending with five grape varieties: cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and shiraz. It’s highly aromatic, spicy and delicious with layers of flavour, fine tannin and incredible length. The Reuben is a superb wine dedicated to Reuben Chapman, an early Paracombe settler known for his generosity and love for the area.
