Paracombe Wines

Located high on an ancient plateau at Paracombe in the Adelaide Hills, Paracombe Wines is a family-owned business and a scenic sight to adore. Close to Adelaide’s CBD, the cellar door has a rare and beautiful story with a superb range of wines for guests to share and enjoy.

Paracombe was established by Paul and Kathy Drogemuller in 1983, just after the Ash Wednesday bushfires. The couple purchased the former burnt-out dairy farm despite having no experience or background with grape growing and winemaking. The pair took on the new challenge, planted a vineyard and started making wine, launching their first wines in 1992. The incredible legacy is shared with son Ben, daughter Sarah and their vibrant team.

Unbridled passion and hard work from the dynamic team saw vineyards grow and vast progress with building an innovative winery, underground cellars and a stunning cellar door embracing spectacular views. Green technology is a major part of this improvement with solar panels, water reuse systems and ecological management systems employed.

Paracombe Wines’ strength is its diversity and ability to consistently produce an incredible range of fine wines. There are exciting new alternatives, interesting blends and traditional well-loved favourites; whether it’s sparkling, crisp aromatic whites, rosé, or a light- to medium-bodied red, there is something for every taste and style preference which is sure to delight all wine enthusiasts.

Paracombe Wines is a testament to being an authentic wine maker. This is distinctly shown through nurturing the vines, crafting the wine, bottling onsite and distributing directly from the winery, ensuring quality and integrity from every vine to glass. Paracombe Wines is a 41-year legacy in the South Australian wine industry that is made to cater for every wine lover.

Tasting Notes

Paracombe Wines
⇐ Pinot Noir Chardonnay Sparkling

A sip of integrity and complexity. Discover a lifted nose that gives fresh, alpine strawberries and the zing of grated lemon. The palate offers fine bubble and lively citrus notes finishing with long and complex flavours that are honeyed cream and apple.

Paracombe Wines
⇐ Pinot Blanc

Grown on the cool southern slopes of the vineyards to preserve the delicateness of this unique variety, the bouquet is lively with citrus flower, musk and gooseberry. Dainty acidity accompanies grapefruit, lime and apple with hints of pepper on the palate.

Paracombe Wines
⇐ Cabernet Franc

Paracombe Wines only select the best barrels to produce the limited release Cabernet Franc. Striking aromas of violets, sweet berries and deep earthy notes, the palate displays soft flavours of wild berries, interesting spice and fine tannins, with a long and elegant finish.

Paracombe Wines
⇐ Somerville Shiraz

James Somerville was one of the early pioneers to settle in Paracombe in the late 1800s. A man of vision and fortitude, he was the first to plant
vines in the district. The tantalizing aromas are packed with delicious, rich coffee and dark chocolate while the palate delivers a strong depth of fruit intensity. The uniqueness of this wine is the layers of flavour that remain to be savoured.
