Majella Wines

On the Coonawarra land that was purchased by their parents in 1960, Brian and Anthony Lynn saw the possibilities for great wine along the front terra rossa bank. The land was originally established for the production of Merino wool and prime lamb, which currently operates alongside the award-winning winery.

Starting with the planting of shiraz in 1968 and cabernet sauvignon in 1970, the size of the vineyard continued to grow to encompass 60 hectares under vine. Smaller lots of merlot and riesling were then planted as demand for the wine increased.

The winery currently produces eleven different wines each year, including its renowned reds, whites and unique Australian blend of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz. Visitors can enjoy a glass of their favourite variety with the company of beautiful vineyard views, the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Majella Wines has won more than 800 trophies and awards, both internationally and within Australia. It was the first winery to win back-to-back Stodart trophies, which included the Best Young Red award for its 2000 and 2001 vintages of Majella Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bruce Gregory has been the head winemaker at Majella Wines since its first official release in 1991. In 2008, Michael Marcus brought his wealth of winemaking knowledge to the team, which led to the success of Majella Wines’ current award-winning range.

A few years ago, Majella Wines invested in a large solar power expansion and rainwater collection to achieve an eco-friendly vineyard and winery. All recently released vintages are also vegan-friendly to accommodate a vast clientele.
