Bay of Shoals Wines
Bay of Shoals Wines is excited to have witnessed its more unusual grape varieties gain great results in the 2021 and 2022 James Halliday Wine Companion, an incredible achievement that reflects the passion and dedication of its winemakers, and the beautiful Kangaroo Island region.
Among these results there were a few that stood out, including the arinto, a varietal originating from Portugal. The 2019 vintage was awarded an impressive 90 points in the 2021 companion while the 2020 vintage was awarded 92 points in the 2022 companion. Meanwhile, the winery’s savagnin, which originates from the Jura region of France, was awarded an outstanding 95 points for the 2019 vintage in the 2021 James Halliday Wine Companion.
These impressive accolades aren’t the only exciting things happening at Bay of Shoals Wines. The team is currently developing private picnic and seafood platter options to be enjoyed on the lawn in front of Reeves Cottage, with either some wine to accompany the picnic or a paired seafood flight paddle. The Reeves Cottage homestead, now heritage-listed, is named after Augustus Reeves, the pioneer who farmed and built his home on the saddle of the hill overlooking the Bay of Shoals. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views.
For a taste of history, delicious food and award-winning wines, plan a visit to Bay of Shoals Wines, and immerse yourself in the wonders of Kangaroo Island.
