Eldredge Vineyards has been situated on the western border of the Clare Valley for more than a quarter of a century, having celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019. The Eldredge Vineyards cellar door is located on a twenty-three hectare estate in a charmingly rustic, renovated cottage; overlooking a large dam, it is surrounded by picturesque vineyards and gum trees. The winery is truly a hidden gem, and its quaint locale provides a perfect place from which to enjoy your favourite vintage.
The winery was founded in 1994 by Leigh and Karen Eldredge, who painstakingly restored the establishment over the course of many months in order to create the Eldredge Vineyards that visitors have come to know and love. Equipped with an abundance of knowledge of viticulture and the Clare Valley, Leigh is recognised as one of the region’s top winemakers.
Every drop of wine created by Eldredge Vineyards is made exclusively from Clare Valley fruit. The winery produces a diverse range of varietals including shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, sangiovese, merlot, malbec and riesling, and prides itself on crafting premium wines at an accessible price point.
Situated along the scenic Spring Gully drive route, the winery sits at 440 metres above sea level, rising to 530 metres at its highest point. The ideal growing conditions afforded by this position allow for the creation of delicious wines, while also providing visitors with spectacular-looking surrounds.
Eldredge Vineyards has won a multitude of accolades over the years. At the 2018 Clare Valley Wine Show, the winery’s Eldredge ‘The Reserve’ Malbec 2012 received the Carl Sobels Trophy for Best Vintage Selection Dry Red. Likewise, the Eldredge Blue Chip Riesling was awarded a gold medal at the 2018 Canberra International Wine Challenge, scoring ninety-five points.
Since its establishment, Eldredge Vineyards has consistently produced a dynamic selection of high-quality whites and reds. The winery’s stunning Clare Valley backdrop features plenty of local flora and fauna, providing the perfect place to sit back and relax as you enjoy a delectable drop of wine.
⇐ Kitty Rosé
Bursting with ripe summer berries, this rosé is crunchy in the mouth with cherry fruit flavours overlaying cherry stone coolness. It is flavoursome, dry and thirst quenching. This wine is full of flavour and character, and there’s just enough sweetness to this wine, which comes into balance when chilled.
⇐Blue Chip Riesling
This limited release riesling exhibits a refined, elegant palate with a length of flavour that is enhanced by a rewardingly crisp, dry finish. With intense Tahitian lime, it’s a riesling of finesse and delicacy, but there is also some serious power in each mouthful.
⇐ Blue Chip Shiraz
Ripe blueberry and blood plum fruits have spent time in quality oak, which has resulted in a wine that’s spicy, creamy, polished and glossy. The wine is perfectly balanced, and once aerated, notes of liquorice and leather come to the fore. The length of flavour is admirable.
⇐ Reserve Malbec
This malbec showcases prominent notes of vanilla and fruitiness, both of which are characteristic traits of the varietal. The wine is sweet and luscious, with ripe briary fruits, forbidden spices, and relatively soft tannins. It also displays an intense flavour and an elegant finish.
