Eldredge Vineyards
Eldredge Vineyards
Eldredge Vineyards began in 1991, with the cellar door sales opening in October 1994 after many months of renovating an eighty-year-old stone cottage. Situated on the Spring Gully scenic drive route, Eldredge Wines has become one of the best kept secrets of the Clare Valley, due to not only its unique location but also its national and international award-winning wines.
Located directly west of Sevenhill, Eldredge is on the boundary of the Clare Valley at 470-metres above sea level overlooking the Blyth Plains, with vineyard rising to 600-metres at its highest point. It is an excellent tourist destination and vineyard site which produces high quality shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, sangiovese, merlot, malbec and riesling. All Eldredge wines are produced from 100 percent Clare Valley fruit, with the focus being to create affordable wines of premium high quality that reflect not only Eldredge character, but also that of the wonderfully unique Clare Valley.
Eldredge Wines have won numerous accolades, the most recent achievement being the Best Clare Valley Winery 2023 Melbourne International Wine Challenge award. The head winemaker and owner, Leigh has extensive knowledge of the Clare Valley and its surrounding areas. In 1997, Leigh was acknowledged for his deeply complex and well-structured cabernet sauvignon at the Adelaide Wine Show and awarded the Professor A J Perkins Trophy and Top Gold for his 1995 Eldredge cabernet sauvignon.
A large wooden deck adjacent to the cellar door provides the perfect place to relax. Guests are invited to purchase a bottle or glass of wine and take full advantage of the serenity of the deck and lawn settings. The manicured lawns, shady trees and expansive deck make it a picture-perfect location to sit and relax with a glass of wine. The large wooden deck is furnished with ceiling fans, air conditioning and heating options including an open fire (weather permitting).
Tasting Notes
⇐ Kitty Rosé
Twist the cap to unlock a myriad of fresh fruits. It is a little peachy and has plenty of cherry, berry and plum action. There’s something very reminiscent of Irish moss cough lollies, with plenty of flora and a hint of meat. There’s just enough sweetness to this wine that it comes right into balance when chilled.
⇐Blue Chip Riesling
A limited release made from 100 percent free-run. This polished riesling exhibits a refined elegant palate with a length of flavour that is enhanced by a rewarding crisp, dry finish.
⇐ Blue Chip Shiraz
Just like a ‘Blue Chip’ commodity, this wine is consistently good every year. A perennial favourite, this exceptional wine is elegantly structured. A rich and luscious red, vibrant crimson in colour and bursting with juicy, rich fruit and spice. Plenty of fine tannins, with a soft lingering finish.
⇐ Louie Cabernet
Structural elements gently carry the wine with complex aromatics of pipe tobacco, ripe blueberry and spiced plum. It’s full and round, with generous fruit flavours and well-judged oak.
