In the heart of McLaren Vale is Doc Adams Wines; a winery that specialises in handcrafted premium wines. viticulturist Adam Jacobs and orthopaedic surgeon Dr Darren Waters. With a focus on fruit-driven wines, minimal intervention and quality products, Doc Adams Wines was established in 2005 by Doc Adams Wines specialises in varieties that grow optimally in McLaren Vale’s Mediterranean climate.

These include shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo, grenache and mataro. The winery has won many accolades, including a trophy and gold medals at many prominent Australian and international wine shows.

Doc Adams Wines was also awarded McLaren Vale Cellar Door of the Year in the 2017 Kaleidoscopic Travel McLaren Vale Cellar Door of the Year Awards; this remarkable achievement was attained within its first year of opening.

This accolade was awarded for outstanding customer service, exceptional quality, and unwavering support of the McLaren Vale wine region.

Opening its cellar door in October 2016, the Doc Adams Wines team prides itself on treating visitors to an enjoyable, relaxed approach to wine tasting. The family-friendly winery has a number of spacious lawn areas, as well as a large undercover verandah that is surrounded by beautiful vines and an Australian bushland setting.

The cellar door is the perfect venue for functions and special events. It offers a unique ‘Design Your Own Platter’ style of dining, where guests can choose from a variety of locally sourced gourmet produce, which can be customised to suit all tastes and budgets.

A range of other special additions to the cellar door include locally produced beer, espresso martinis, artisan coffee, and Doc Adams Wines’ very own Doc-Tail – a moscato- and gin-based cocktail. Doc Adams Wines is the perfect stop-off destination on the way to and from the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Tasting Notes

2015 Doc Adams Tempranillo

The 2015 Doc Adams Tempranillo has a sensational purple-red colour that extracts brilliantly in the glass. Aromas of charry oak and liquorice dominate throughout the palate, creating a wine that is rich and flavoursome. This wine was awarded a gold medal at the 2017 Cairns Wine Show.

2015 Doc Adams GSM

The 2015 Doc Adams GSM is brilliant and vibrant in colour, produced from vines that are up to eighty years old. It displays fragrant aromas of blueberry, rose petals and geranium. With beautiful fruit characters of cherry and mulberry, exotic spice notes of cardamom and cinnamon follow through on the palate. Touches of confectionery are supported by subtle tannins to create complexity. This wine was awarded four stars by Winestate Magazine.




2015 Doc Adams Premium
Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2015 Doc Adams Premium Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant dark red colour. Produced from the old vines and soils of McLaren Vale, the wine shows rich aromas of mocha and cherry chocolate. Juicy and aromatic flavours flow through, which showcases a smooth and velvety palate.


2015 ‘1838 First Vines’ Shiraz

This 2015 vintage shiraz is big, rich and robust. This deep coloured wine comes from vines which are more than 100-years-old. On the nose, the initial aromas present sweet coconut oak, following through with intense flavours of dark coffee and smoky charcoal hues, which are combined with concentrated berries. The powerful, indulgent flavours dance long on the palate. This wine was awarded 94 points by James Halliday.
