Barristers Block Premium Wines is a family-owned and -operated winery that was established in 2002 by Jan Siemelink-Allen, with the support of her husband Evert and sons, James and Lachlan. Jan has thirty years of experience in all aspects of the wine industry, beginning at Coonawarra where she managed cellar door outlets. She spent five years managing South Australian sales for two major Australian wine companies before leaving in 2004 to create and market her own label.

To maintain a standard of excellence, Barristers Block Premium Wines produces fruit from its own family vineyard, which provides the best fruit of each varietal. Located in the Wrattonbully region, Barristers Block Premium Wines’ twenty-fiveacre vineyard grows shiraz and cabernet sauvignon.

In addition to the Wrattonbully vineyard, Barristers Block Premium Wines also maintains a twenty-acre vineyard at its Woodside estate in the Adelaide Hills. The cellar door was opened in 2009, and Jan firmly believes that all who visit will embrace the wines in the natural setting of the vineyard.

The cellar door also affords guests the opportunity to see just where Jan’s passion for producing such high-quality wine comes from.

The family operates all its vineyards with minimal tillage and all-natural fertilisers. The winery runs its own sheep through the vineyard during winter to keep the growth down and to provide natural fertilisation. All the vineyards are drip-irrigated and mulched in summer to ensure moisture is preserved and to eliminate water wastage.

With farmyard animals and a giant sandpit, Barristers Block Premium Wines is considered the most family-friendly winery in the region. Adults can sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy a tapas board or gourmet pizza while they’re surrounded by the immense natural beauty of the estate.

The property is home to the Vigneron Villa, which is a gorgeous three-bedroom villa that overlooks the lake, vines and charming farmyard animals. Barristers Block Premium Wines also hosts weddings, birthdays, hens and bucks parties, christenings and other functions, and the team can tailor special events to your specific requirements.
