1847 Wines Chateau Yaldara

1847 Wines Chateau Yaldara

Known for its beautiful architecture and surrounding gardens, Chateau Yaldara is arguably one of the most photographed buildings in the Barossa Valley. Purchased in 2014 by 1847 Wines, the unique building has several private tasting rooms available to the public. Be sure to visit the elegant wine room, where you can sample a wide array of award-winning styles from the 1847 Wines and Chateau Yaldara ranges. Both brands are recognised for their fortified wines, which range in age from ten to forty years old.

Specialising in shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, grenache, semillon, chardonnay and aged tawny, 1847 Wines Chateau Yaldara has something for everyone. Covering more than eighty hectares under vine, it’s no wonder the impressive winery achieved a 5-star rating in the Halliday Wine Companion 2020.

1847 Wines Chateau Yaldara also offers guests the opportunity to book a guided tour of the spectacular winery. Bookings for this rare experience are essential to avoid missing out.

Located on the banks of the North Para River at Chateau Yaldara, Hermann’s Restaurant is nestled within the beautiful natural landscape of the Barossa Valley. Enjoy a modern Australian menu of the finest South Australian produce. The menu features a seasonal blend of traditional and contemporary dishes, which can be paired with award-winning regional wines.

Guided tours can be arranged by appointment or booked online.

Tasting Notes

Chateau Yaldara Classic Tawny

The extended barrel maturation of this wine has added cashew and roasted nuts to the palate. Fruit cake, orange rind and caramel meld into the rich and silky mouthfeel. With a sweet and intense finish, this wine features complex floral and toffee flavours.

1847 Wines Pappy’s Paddock Cabernet Sauvignon

This classic Barossa Valley cabernet sauvignon displays intense eucalyptus and cedar aromas. The palate is rich and mouth-filling from ripe and sweet fruit; predominantly blackcurrant, mint and herbal notes. Fine and velvety tannins combine with careful oak treatment to provide texture and length.

⇐ Chateau Yaldara Vintage Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir

You will enjoy a wine that features pale yellow and copper hues, as well as delicate beads that enhance the notes of citrus and white peach. This is highlighted by strawberry blossom and lemon zest flavours. Enjoy flavours of lime and nectarine, while the ageing on yeast lees has created complex dough and biscuit richness on the palate, beautifully balanced with a clean acid line that refreshes the senses.

⇐ 1847 Wines Sparkling Petit Verdot

A unique style of sparkling red wine made from the classic petit verdot grape variety. This brilliant deep ruby red wine has aromas of blackberry, plums and typical petit verdot florals. These flow onto the palate and combine with delightful creaminess.
