There is an incredible amount of history surrounding Chateau Yaldara and the picturesque estate. Though it is now a thriving winery, Chateau Yaldara was once a flax mill, built in the 1850’s. Left to ruins, it was purchased in 1947 by Hermann Thumm, who would go on to create Yaldara Estate. Today, the dedicated staff work tirelessly to continue Hermann’s legacy, from the landscaping team that takes pride in keeping the grounds pristine, to the winery team’s dedication to producing incredible wines, to the cellar door team who welcome all visitors and offer unique wine tastings.

The beautiful Lyndoch cellar door is open daily and offers a variety of experiences, including a guided walk through the beautiful historic buildings while being educated on the history of the magnificent chateau and estate. Otherwise, you can simply sit back and enjoy this beautiful parcel of paradise while you relax on the immaculate lawns or in the surrounding gardens with wine. Chateau Yaldara offers a number of accommodation options throughout the vineyards, plus beautiful spaces for functions. The team has created these spaces as blank canvases for you to hire out and transform into your dream event setting.

The winery team at Chateau Yaldara makes approximately sixty batches of wine per year from the impressive 72.6-hectare vineyard, specialising in a wide range from dry and sparkling white wines to red wines, sweet wines and of course, fortified wines. These batches are used within blends or bottled as single vineyard products. Over the years, a number of Chateau Yaldara wines have won various awards and accolades, most notably the 2015 Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir, which was voted the Best Sparkling Wine in Australia in 2019.
